Inverter direct monitoring is the process of collecting solar plant performance data directly from the inverter. Professional monitoring and energy management systems like Solar-Log® use hardware to communicate with inverters, typically through RS485 or LAN connection. Data collected from the inverter includes production information, faults, and inverter error codes. Solar-Log® logs the data and transfers it to the Solar-Log WEB Enerest™ morning software where it can be displayed and analyzed. This process immediately detects any errors in solar plants or drops in production to ensure that the solar plant is operating as expected, with minimal disruption. Solar-Log® inverter direct monitoring is inverter-agnostic, meaning it can be used with all major inverter brands.

Monitoring is the process of logging plant performance data to ensure that the plant is functioning properly. Monitoring often includes inverter direct communication and forecasting tools to detect any drop or deviation between expected and actual power output. Solar-Log® offers monitoring compatible with all major inverter brands. 

Production metering is the use of a physical production meter for an accurate measurement of solar power production. Solar-Log® has ANSI certified revenue grade meters to meet the standards required in many performance-based incentive (PBI) markets. 

The production readings provided by inverters through monitoring is often less accurate than the measurements provided by revenue grade meters. 

Consumption monitoring is the measurement of how much energy the building or individual circuits are using. Consumption monitoring requires a separate power meter to measure the building load.

  • In principle all three Solar-Log® models are able to monitor a PV plant completely and using modern technology via internet. The Solar-Log® that is the best "match" depends on the plant size, availability of PC/internet and costs. The selection of accessories also helps decide which Solar-Log® to select.

Our experts provide answers to key questions about monitoring your PV plant with the Solar-Log®.

  • Log in with the account symbol (top right) to create a new plant under your account. Switch to "My Plants" and click on the plus symbol. Then a window appears to enter the "Plant Name" and "Serial Number." Enter the "Easy Code" if the Solar-Log® should register automatically to the portal. Remove the top gray cover on the device to find the serial number and Easy Code. Then click on "Save." The plant is then automatically created. All the necessary information that needs to be entered in the Solar-Log® to transfer data is located in the plant's "Access Data" section on the portal.
  •  If it is necessary to replace a Solar-Log® device at your plant, you do not need to register the new device. The device replacement can be performed with you existing account.

    The following steps are necessary to replace a device in the Solar-Log WEB-Enerest™ portal. Log in with the account symbol. Switch to "My Plants." Go to the plant where the device needs to be replaced and click on the tab "Solar-Log® Replacement." Enter the serial number from the new Solar-Log® in the serial number box (remove the top gray cover on the device to find the serial number) and then click on the "Replace" button. This completes the device replacement process and the Solar-Log® now transfers its recorded data to the WEB portal.
  • To create a new password in Solar-Log WEB-Enerest™, log in with the account symbol, go to "Personal information" and click on the "Password" tab. You can generate a new password in the "password" box. After clicking on "Change Password" to save the password, the password will be activated and sent via e-mail to the registered e-mail address.
  • If you have forgotten your password, go to the account symbol (top right) and click on the link "Forgot your password?." Then the "Recover Password" window appears where you have to enter the e-mail address used for registration. A randomly generated password is send to this e-mail address. Please change this password right after you log in with it. (Refer to "Creating a new password in Solar-Log WEB-Enerest™).

  • When, for example, 105 kW or more is connected to a Solar-Log 1200, exceeding its limit of 100.99 kW. The following occurs: FTP Export is disabled (Remote Configuration still works). HTTP Export is disabled (Remote Configuration still works). The sending of error and yield notifications is disabled. The following message appears in the web interface: "The amount of connected generator power allowed for this device has been exceeded. The device's use is limited. Please check the device configuration."
